The "Must Do" Rocky Mountain Hike
Spend your day on top of the world and away from the crowds at Sunshine Meadows. Sunshine Meadows is known by many as the most stunning alpine setting in the Canadian Rockies and perhaps in the world.
Situated at an average elevation of 2220m (7,300'), the meadows straddle the Continental Divide and the boundary between Alberta and British Columbia. Surrounded by some of the Rockies' highest peaks, the unobstructed views are beyond compare. Wildlife abounds in the meadows, and the brilliance of the summer flowers and autumn larches guarantees spectacular scenery on every visit.
The hiking trails at Sunshine Meadows are considered "beginner" trails and can be walked by anyone in reasonable physical condition. The steepest part of the trail system is at the very beginning where the trails lead you up and out of the meadow that Sunshine Village sits in and over the continental divide. The total elevation gain over 1 km is about 100 m. (300 ft. in a 1/2 mile). All trails are gravelled and ideal for all weather. On the trails at the Sunshine Meadows, you'll also find many benches, numerous viewpoints and 2 outhouses.
Rate is $169.00/Person (minimum of 2 people to book a reservation). Fare includes transportation to and from Calgary and shuttle bus fees. Calgary hotel pickup/drop-offs can be arranged ($10 each way) if in the downtown area.
Tour departs at 7:30 AM and returns to Calgary approximately 5 PM.
Alberta Legendary Tours will take you to the Sunshine Meadows shuttle bus location, where you will be able to hike the Great Canadian Rocky Mountains at your leisure.
